Please can the below be circulated nationwide re a male trying to passing
himself off as a MUFC scout
there have now been 2x separate incidents
where he has approached young boys in Cheshire and Lancs please see below:
GMP Police were recently contacted by the Manchester United Children's
Services Officer Elizabeth Lynch who wished to make me aware of some
suspicious circumstances involving an individual passing himself off as a
Manchester United Scout.
It appears that on the morning of Saturday 17th January 2009 at the
Stalybridge Soccer School a Manchester United Scout Mr Charlie Orr
has been handed a leaflet by a parent warning of a Bogus
Manchester United Scout who has been approaching Children at training
sessions.
The content of the notice is as follows:
"ATTENTION IMPORTANT CHILD WELFARE ISSUE"
We have become aware of an incident that has taken place at a children's
Football session in Poynton where a male in his 60's with a distinctive
tattoos on his face
approached children at the end of the training session
and offering to transport them to the ground. The incident occurred at
another club and as far as we are aware has been reported to the Police.
All managers must therefore be alert at training sessions and ensure that
no child leaves a session on their own and therefore must be collected by a
parent. Should anybody see anything of concern please in the first instance
report this to the Police and in the second inform the club.
This has been reported to Cheshire Police by Elizabeth Lynch and Cheshire
incident reference number CC09016397 refers. On speaking with Mrs Lynch I
have also been informed that this individual is a white male in his 60's
with a teardrop tattoo on his cheek
and on being challenged by a parent he
provided a telephone number that was proven to be false.
Liz Lynch the children’s officer at MUFC has contacted us this morning
02/02/09 after another MUFC Scout Tommy Inglish reported having
encountered the male described below near to a venue in the Poulton Le
Fylde area of Lancashire from the conversation he had with male the
concern was this man had observed Mr Inglish at the Football venue where a
number of local children’s games were taking place the male is described
as having Long Grey hair and a Tear Drop tattoo on his cheek he was
driving a Grey Honda Civic
the circumstances of the contact are quite
bizarre but need to be relayed to Lancashire this is a similar
description that was given regarding a similar incident in Cheshire some 3
weeks ago. ie the one above
