Cashes ran out 5-0 winners over a stubborn Wotton side less than a week after the 5-1 victory for the Stroud side in the reverse fixture at Wotton. After some early pressure, Matthew Gilby hit the post and Oli Counter saw his shot saved by the excellent Wotton keeper after some delightful play by Jack Rachael. At the other end, Wotton were put through but some excellent defending by Cashes Man of the Match, Callum Parry, cleared the danger. Cashes kept up the pressure on the Wotton goal with shots from Rachael and a looping header from Gilby following a cross by Kristian Wylie both saved. It was clear that the Wotton keeper would take some beating! Further chances fell to Rachael and Gilby but they could not find the net. Wotton replied and it took a good save from Cashes keeper Josh Strange to prevent Wotton scoring against the run of play. As half time approached, Gilby was through again and with the keeper beaten saw his shot hit the post for a second time. Cashes started the second half brightly and were rewarded for all their patient play when Gilby slotted home. Further chances fell to Rachael and substitute Bailey Clutterbuck hit the post. The second goal duly arrived when Parry picked up the ball and picked out Counter whose shot beat the keeper to make it 2-0. Counter was involved in Cashes third which was coolly despatched into the net by Rachael on the turn. Wotton did not give up and some excellent defending by Luke Eckersall and Charlie Brown kept them at bay. Lewes Johnston came on as substitute and was soon involved as he and Counter worked hard in midfield to set up for Rachaels second and Cashes fourth. Full time approached and it was Clutterbuck who scored to make the final score 5-0. Cashes Man of the Match went to Callum Parry for another excellent defensive display. |
