Match Report
Kick Off : 7th Mar 10:30 Location : Haybarns rec ground Heybarnes Road Smallheath Birm
West Hagley U8 B v Bordesley Rovers
This week we were in Small Heath to face Bordsley Rovers. Last time out we drew 2-2 at Hagley park.
The game started well, the teams seemed to be evenly matched.
Hagley were solid at the back with Archie and Rouben keeping Bordesley away from the Hagley goal.
Euans big kicks were very effective for Hagley and they were able to attack on the counter as a result.
It was about half way through the first half when Hagley broke the deadlock. William ran onto Charlies pass with only the keeper to beat he placed it in the bottom right corner. 0-1. Hagley now had the bit between their teeth and looked like scoring again when Bordesley capitalized on a rare mistake at the back to level the score. It was not level for long, Joe Whitehouse made his way down the right and his cross found the back of the net.
The first Half ended 1-2.
Hagley started well in the second half. For the first 10 mins it was all Hagley. Everything the boys had been learning seemed to come together. They passed the ball with confidence and looked like a team.
It was not long into the half when Joe Whitehouse passed the ball to Jacob in front of goal that had Jacob been able to connect with would have resulted in a goal. However he did not have to wait long after another charging run from Joe, Jacob was able to add the third goal that was thoroughly deserved.
Hagley continued to play well with Jacob and Joe and Ben strong in midfield, Tom, Rouben Euan did not have much to do. On the rare occasion they were needed they cleared the lines and put the danger back into the oppositions half. Finn came close on one occasion with a great shot that went just wide and passed the ball in for the forth goal that was finished by Joe Whitehouse after a goal mouth scramble.
Alan made a few changes at this point that saw the return of Charlie, William and Archie to the pitch. Hagley seemed to be on the path for more goals but did not have the time left on the clock.
Game finished 1-4.
