COPA 71

The international feature documntary telling the story of the 1971 women's world cup

We've got a special link with 'Copa 71'. Our Goal founder, Ella, was the researcher on this film.
Now, former players Chris Lockwood, Gill Sayell, and Leah Caleb are ambassadors for Our Goal.

'Copa 71' is about to rewrite the history of football. This time, telling the whole story.

In 1971, Mexico, England, France, Italy, Denmark and Argentina flew out to Mexico to compete in the World Cup. This tournament was a success like nothing ever seen before and it remains the highest attended women's sporting event in history, with a 110,000-strong crowd for the final which saw Denmark crowned world champions.

When the players returned home, they were shamed, and the England team were banned from playing football.

Now, they tell their story on the world stage.

Executive produced by Serena & Venus Williams, Alex Morgan, Will & Jada Smith

Copa 71 is world premiering at toronto international film festival in september 2023 and will come out in cinemas later this year
