A school visit from The Duerr's Foundation.

Last week, we had a visit from Sally Addenbrook, Brand Marketing Manager from F Duerr & Sons Ltd who have been funding our Wythenshawe based Eva programmes over the last 12 months. Sally visited a session at one of our partner schools, Dixons Newall Green, where we are currently working with groups in year 7 and year 8.

Since launching our partnership in March 2024, we have delivered our long-term intervention to 12 girls from year 7 up to year 10 at Secondary schools Dixons Newall Green and Manchester Enterprise Academy.

During Sally’s visit, the session began with half an hour of classroom-based circuit training with our year 7s, followed by working on our self-care minibooks, which are a little toolkit made by the girls for the days they need a boost.

The Duerr’s Foundation’s work in the community, which goes beyond just our organisation, has allowed us to support girls to increase their levels of physical activity and in turn, improve their physical health hand mental wellbeing.

This week, we chatted to the girls about the impact the programme has had on them. A year 7 student said “[The programme] helps with my mental health”

A year 8 student said “I look forward to this session all week and as soon as it's over I look forward to the next one”

A year 9 student said "The sessions have allowed me to be more confident and more engaged whilst doing PE. They have also helped me enjoy other lessons more"

Thank you to The Duerr's Foundation for your continued support to help us make a difference to girls’ lives.
