Our Goal mascots at Man City v West Ham

April, 2024

Our Goal is all about empowering girls through physical activity and sport. We want to inspire our players to reach for the stars, both on and off the field. Recently, two of our players, Charlotte and Olivia, had the opportunity to be mascots at the Manchester City v West Ham game. Thanks to Sported UK, Our Goal was able to provide these girls with a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will cherish for a long time.

Funding from The Duerr's Foundation

April, 2024

Our Goal is proud to partner with The Duerr's Foundation, the sweet spreads company, and extend our gratitude for their generous donation to fund two, year-long mentoring programmes at secondary schools in Wythenshawe. Through these programs, Our Goal is committed to providing young girls with the tools and resources they need to succeed through physical activity, sport, and mentoring. We believe that all girls deserve a chance to shine, and we are dedicated to helping them achieve their dreams.

£1 Wednesday Community Football

April, 2024

At OUR GOAL, our mission is to create safe and fun environments for girls to be empowered through physical activity. Earlier this year, we were successful in a funding bid from Greater Manchester Police which has allowed us to start up new weekly football sessions for just £1 per player. At the end of every month, our football session will be followed by an hour of mentoring in which girls will have the opportunity to get to know each other better, meet some incredible women and find out more about what they do, and take part in activities related to self-care, resilience, creativity, and positive thinking. If you know any girls based in Manchester aged 5-11 who would like to join, please sign them up on the website!

Copa 71 at Hebden Bridge Film Festival

March, 2024

We are proud to be co-presenting the opening night of Hebden Bridge Film Festival to screen Copa 71.

In 1971, Mexico City's Azteca Stadium hosts a momentous event. Football teams from England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Denmark, and Italy gather for a groundbreaking tournament. However, this isn't just any competition. What sets it apart is remarkable: all the players competing on the pitch are women. This is Copa 71, the unofficial Women's World Cup—an historic occasion unjustly overlooked by FIFA and domestic football associations worldwide. But now, its story is finally being brought to light. With a huge release in the UK right now, we’re incredibly excited to have three Lost Lionesses joining us after the screening for what promises to be a truly exceptional opening night.

This spectacular event will be on 15th March at 7pm.

This event is currently sold out but you can join the waiting list here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/t-avomoyx

WELCOME RACHEL RAMSAY

March, 2024

As we eagerly await the release of 'Copa 71', we are thrilled to announce Rachel Ramsay as our new Our Goal Ambassador. Rachel, the director of Copa 71, worked closely alongside Our Goal founder Ella during the production of Copa 71.

Rachel is passionate about empowering women and about using the experiences of the 1971 team to ensure we continue to provide opportunities for women and girls to play and to be empowered through football and sport in general. Rachel has already played an important role in Our Goal's first year of existence, and we're excited to have even more input from her as our ambassador.

SECONDARY SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAMME LAUNCHES

December, 2023

This December, Our Goal launches its Empowered Girls Programme in a Greater Manchester secondary school.
The Empowered Girls programme is a co-constructed mentoring and physical activity programme designed to empower and inspire teenage girls, especially those who are disengaging with PE. It's all about working with girls, meeting them where they're at, and giving them agency.

PE is challenging for so many girls at school. This programme uses small group sessions to build their confidence and self-esteem and foster positive, long-lasting relationships with physical activity.

MAN CITY V MAN UNITED DERBY

November 2023

We recently had the opportunity to attend the Manchester City vs Manchester United derby as hospitality guests, thanks to invitations from This Fan Girl, Konami, and Efootball. The match saw a record-breaking attendace at Old Trafford of 43,615.

Before the match, Rosa, Lola, Ina, and Jess from Our Goal FC women's team enjoyed a delicious three-course meal and then headed out to watch the match from extra comfy seats. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget. Thank you!

BE EMPOWERED FOOTBALL DAY

October 2023

Our Be Empowered Football Day was an amazing success, bringing together girls from across Manchester to experience the power of football. With our team of seven female coaches, we spent the day learning, growing, and developing the confidence we need to succeed both on and off the pitch. The afternoon tournament was a highlight, as we put our playing skills to the test. We can't wait to organize more events like this to continue empowering girls and women through football.
