Our
Last month we hosted our first ever (and first of many!) holiday camps with Our Goal CIC. Using funding we were awarded by Sport England’s Movement Fund, we designed a camp that gave girls a mix of active sessions that build confidence and skills, alongside creative time to chat, make new friends and make things take home.
Across the week we rotated through a range of activities so the girls got try new things.
Sports & movement
Football
The girls played loads of small sided football-themed games and challenges
Dance with coach Katy
The girls learnt a short routine which they performed together
Rugby with coach Chloe
The girls learnt the basics of rugby and played some mini games
Crafts & creative sessions
Self-care mini-books
Me Maps
Bracelet making
In fact, all of our school and community sessions at Our Goal CIC combine physical activity with sit-down, creative or group work activities because I have seen how effective this mix is at engaging girls. They can move their bodies and learn new skills, then have a go at crafts that allow creativity and connection with themselves and with each other.
The coaches who made it happen
A huge thank you to the brilliant team of coaches who supported the girls all week:
Ruby Sykes
Chloe Foster
Chloe Lyons
Katy Wilson
Ella Pickstock
Lauren Pierce
Bethany Benson
Violet Norris
And to our star Social Media Lead, Megan Chapman for capturing all the fun!
I’m incredibly proud to be able run our camps with this team of strong and inspiring women. I love that girls can turn up to our sessions and see so many young women around them in leadership and sporting roles. I really believe that this is what makes our sessions at Our Goal so special.
The coaches brought so much positivity and energy to the camp and made it a big success as proven by this amazing feedback from parents:
“All the staff were amazing, kind, and friendly with the kids. Thank you for supporting the girls.”
“The coaches were lovely and very attentive, activities were fun and engaging. The gifts ( t-shirts, football & activity book) were a very welcomed bonus”
“It was fabulous, the girls really enjoyed it”
“Excellent - my daughter enjoyed the activities and the atmosphere”
“Giving the signed shirts was unexpected but well received and a great touch.”
Sponsored kits — thank you, Legacy Locker
We were proud to have our kits for both girls and coaches sponsored by Legacy Locker. Philippa Carroll, Legacy Locker Representative came down to see us on the Wednesday of our camp and this is what she had to say:
It was a pleasure to be invited to Our Goals’ Easter camp and to see first hand the incredible work being done. Sitting down with the girls during their me-map activity and hearing about their favourite sports and interests was a real highlight, and it was inspiring to see the confidence being built through each activity.
It was also great to spend time speaking with the mentors, whose encouragement helps create such a positive and supportive environment for the girls.
There’s a strong alignment between this and what we’re building at Legacy Locker. At our core, we’re focused on protecting what matters most and helping people feel prepared and confident for the future.
We’re incredibly proud to have sponsored the Easter camp t-shirts and support such an empowering initiative that is making a real difference.” – Philippa Carroll, Legacy Locker Representative
Thank you to everyone who came to our first ever holiday camp and everyone who made it possible. We’ll be back with the next one in August, and I for one can’t wait!
